Lessons in the "Hood"
As I am still challenged to rework time so that God's story and His time shapes my days and life, I came across this prayer. I wish I had written it, but I did not. Here is an exerpt:
Everybody’s got an angle, a take, a perspective—
on escalating gas prices,
on the war in Iraq,
on immigration,
on poverty and AIDS in places like Africa . . .
but is it Yours?
Do we have Your angle?
Everybody’s got an angle, a take, a perspective—
on manhood,
sisterhood,
childhood,
motherhood . . .
but it is Yours?
Do we have Your angle?
EASTER…
that day that gave us a w/holy new angle, take, perspective on life in this world;
the day you redefined human life,
not from the perspective of our old ruler, death,
but from the w/holy different angle brought to light
through our savior, Jesus Christ,
whom you raised from the dead.
Seeing life from the angle of Easter changes everything—
how we think and act about AIDS, immigration, war, gas prices;
how we think and act about manhood, sisterhood, childhood,
and any other “hood” possible . . .
