A conversation, a dialogue between friends trying to understand "how to be a Christian" together. A discussion in which we reserve the right to recant and not believe what we've written here and thus, take ourselves as seriously as a cow's opinion.

Confessions & Dialogue

Tara writes: Ok, so here it goes...my first moo point.

My confession: When I think of my life and what I want it to be, I think in terms of "big"and "unique". I want to change the world. And (I confess) I use current definitions of success to drive my judgement about what is significant and what is not. I get discouraged sometimes that I'm not "smart enough" (with a bachelor's in education), nor do I run in elite social circles (except for Audra, of course!!), but rather I'm a wife, a mom, a teacher in a normal house, doing normal everyday things. I confess I do not have the mind of Christ in such matters, but rather the mindset of my culture....and thus, the following dialogue. (based on Matthew 5)

My dialogue: Come with Me.
I will make a new kind of mother out of you...
Let Me tell you why you are that wife, mother and teacher. You are here to bring out the God-flavors in this world (that your children and others might get a taste for God).
You are here to be light, to bring out the God-colors of the world (that your children and others may see God in their surroundings). God does not wish to be kept a secret...I have made you a light bearer, I am not going to hide you. The prestige or largeness or fame of the place I put you does not concern Me. Rather I look at the extent of the darkness that prevails there. I will put you on a light stand in dark places - trust Me (even your children's lives are dark).
How Lord? How can I be salt and light wherever I am?
Keep open house; be generous with your life (to your husband, kids, students you teach, teachers you meet, etc...). By opening up to others you'll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.
In other words, you've come to see and taste this "raging, wild fury that they call the love of God". It is all around. It is the driving force of what you call life. But so many are blind to it. They do not always taste it (including your kids, husband, and those you meet). Help them taste it, help them see it by "telling & showing & doing" how the fury of My love has come to you!
